hi fellas, Im about to do the baleno 1.6 coilpack conversion and although ive read a lot if threads (bluezook & cairnszook + others) on this topic i still have some questions....

wiring- took out the donk and now on to removing the wiring, engine wiring is easy enough and i found the ecu, removed the cluster but how far do i go stripping the baleno? under the engine bay fuse box it goes into the front guard, need it?... apart from wires to ecu and cluster do i need anything else? oh and fuel pump.... what about the under dash fuse box above accelerator? is it easier to remove whole dash to get to the wiring?

it already has a 1.6 carb and i can see the gearbox adapter plate, but are these stock or modified mounts? pic below.

will the 1.6 carb extractors fit? if not can i just use the baleno manifold with the sensor and adapt exhaust to fit?

if i do power steering can i use the baleno pump? or need a whole vitara setup?

what it this endless air i have occasionally seen in threads? ( no i havent looked that one up)

i think im good with the vitara or homemade vss, the cooling re routing and tacho replacement so no questions there yet.

anybody fit the baleno seats? i have a sj 80 so its a bit trickier than usual.

is this a sierra or vitara radiator? pic below

if i have a build thread does the car have to have a name? LoL. (actually i dont think it deserves a build thread cause my coily is only doing the engine and a winch bar)

thats all i can think of for now but there will be more im sure. im excited and thanks for all your help..

cheers ken

Passenger side mount looks standard.
Drive side is missing bracket under engine mount. Should look same as pass side.
Also looks like bracket in chassis has been redrilled to relocate engine mount back towards firewall

No,1.6 carb extractors will not fit?
Get a set of ebay sierra G16B extractors.

Radiator not sierra, vitara I'd say.

Strip the front half of the Baleno,(the last harness I cut at near the seats) Mark the plugs, 75% won’t be used but can be reused for extensions if needed. Only the baleno engine bay fuse box will be used if wanted. Sierra ign fuse can be used in the sierra fusebox

it already has a 1.6 carb and i can see the gearbox adapter plate, but are these stock or modified mounts? pic below. If a 1.6 is in, I’d say your good to go

will the 1.6 carb extractors fit? if not can i just use the baleno manifold with the sensor and adapt exhaust to fit?
Carb exhaust are different to efi due to the head change. Baleno manifold can’t be used as the baleno dumps at the sierra engine mount. Ebay have extractors (mph?) for the conversion, or Jimny G13bb Wildcat extractors are close. Mine needed adjusting with a hammer.

if i do power steering can i use the baleno pump? or need a whole vitara setup? Baleno use a smaller pump so id adapt the whole vit system.

what it this endless air i have occasionally seen in threads? ( no i havent looked that one up) Look it up. You’re running out of room with the vit ps pump so a 12v might be better

i think im good with the vitara or homemade vss, the cooling re routing and tacho replacement so no questions there yet. ok

anybody fit the baleno seats? i have a sj 80 so its a bit trickier than usual.
2 types of seats I think, Some are mild, flat seats, some are bolstered like a gti swift. These sit higher due to the seat mounts/lifting adjusting mechanism. Coily maybe different. Unsure, I’ve only fitted into a WT/SJ70

is this a sierra or vitara radiator? pic below
I’d have a guess and say Sierra because the mounts look stock. Use a shroud and a vitara engine fan.

if i have a build thread does the car have to have a name? LoL. (actually i dont think it deserves a build thread cause my coily is only doing the engine and a winch bar) Doesn’t need a thread or name unless your in love with it and cheat on your husband/wife with it.

I used the Baleno PS pump and lines, I needed a fitting put on one of the lines at the metal half way bit, and an adaptor to the Vit box.
Turns 33x10.5s pretty well but wont lift the car sideways in a rut using the steering, If that is your bag.
Cost me 47 bucks or thereabouts for the pipework and adaptor.
I'm a tightarse, used the Baleno reservoir too. Drilled the spotwelds on the bracket out.

Jimny eBay blue extractors with the hammer mod, and drilled and tapped the block so the bolt the extractors hit now comes from the other direction.

The engine mounts I am not sure what I ended up using as they were all in a pile, Vit G16 and Sierra G13 ones, with a flat steel plate instead of the factory mount mount. And the centre cut out of the chassis mount for the mount bolt to sit in. Not sure of the rubber mounts, out of the mystery bucket, possibly early Datsun or VL commy. Sits below the bonnet without BL, and the thermostat housing(Swift) is removable in the engine bay.

Creative water pipes to suit Mustang radiator. Circles back of block and under/ behind extractors, cant describe, can photograph..
