So, a few years ago I had an engine conversion done and all was well.
This morning however after driving to bulla last night and camping just of sterling road I have no power to the engine as far as I can tell.
Starter and every thing else that runs on the sierra loom is working but I have no spark and not fuel pumps.
I've checked as many fuses as I can find, and looked for lose plugs/ earth's
And that's where my knowledge ends,I've started hitting things with a big stick.
What else can I do to trouble shoot this????

I have tried and didn't manage to get a reading, but from there I didn't really know where to go.

Yeah, sounds like the main relay either has no power or is dead. Find the relay and go from there.

Have found the relays, there's 2? No power to either of them, I'm struggling to find where the power is meant to be conning from. Any ideas on what colors the hot wires would be ?

Can you trace wires easily? Pull the relay out and look at the pins, should be 3 that run one way and one that runs the opposite way, that's the power pin. One relay will be the main one, other for fuel pump. Concentrate on the main relay

All fuses are good.

So far the only thing I have found to be not right , was a heap of condensation on firewall insulation that may have been touching the back of the ecu , burning doubt it was enough to cause a short, for the moment I have the ecu sitting in the sun.

There's something seriously wrong if you're getting a short through the ECU case to the body. Is there a hidden fuse somewhere? Have you checked fuses with a test light or just by eye?

I've Checked fuses with a known good fuse checking it still worked with the head lights after each try,
I don't have a test light at the moment , and I don't thing there are any hidden fuses , there are 2 under the bonnet next to the relays and then just the normal sierra fuses.

I didn't think it was really a short on to the body , but I'm just thinking of anything right now, the car drove 3.5 hours flawlessly last night the only thing that's different this morning is the car was covered in ice and rather wet.

It's hard to trace back as the loom was never cut and striped , I've got some one driving up with trailer and my pajero to town this home , pretty bummed though would vena perfect day for a little snowboarding.

Would be helpfull if I could work out how to put up pictures from my phone.
I think when I get home I'm going to print out the diagrams and rewrite this the way it should have been done in the first place.

Have you tried just swapping the two relays over?

Had stuck relays before. May or may not be related to the cold, could just be a freak thing

I never even thought about the cold and the relays , completely forgot there's a mechanism inside them, I might buy a couple of new ones just incase.

Thanks again man, you just saved my brother from a 3 hour one way drive and trailer hire.

No that was my brother , last thing he wanted was to go to the snow.
He hadn't even left home when I got the car started , but it did only take me 3 hours after first calling so I guess he was still sipping his morning coffe lol.
