Hi want some advice on a winch to buy for my 09 jimny. I am trying to keep the weight down cause I know how much extra weight on the front of the jimny can make an effect. Some the two winches I have come down to are the two runva winches because the seem reliable and hands down they have the best warranty which says something to me. see links below. I am leaning towards the 6000 lbs winch with rope because it weighs in at about 22.5 kgs where the 9500 winch is 32 kg also it comes with 32 m rope instead of 24 m. but the rep at runva says the 9500lbs has a better motor and also the 6000 has to be ordered in from overseas so I was abit concerned about parts if it break but the do come with a limited lifetime warranty. I think the 6000 lbs should be okay for the jimny but I was hoping some people can give me their opinion on which one and whether that weight difference would really matter? http://www.runva.com/info/?134.html (that's the 6000) price $549 http://www.runvawinch.com.au/winches/4w ... a-ewx9500/ (that's the 9500) price $649 Also I have looked into all the other 6000 lbs winches to Tmax and premier one and have thought not cause they are more expensive and warranty is not as good |

15-20 kgs isn't gonna make bugger all difference. look at the 9500-q evo. faster, good quality etc. PM Dank on here or speak to him at KPD4x4 before you buy anything. Dan is a great bloke who will look after you. |

rope saves the most weight (10kg atleast) the 9500 will really need a bigger alternator IMO the 6000 is the go. even though its only rated to 1685KG once on the 4th layer of rope you can always wind out more and wrap it arround the tree to take 2-3 layers off the drum. or better yet use a pully block and attach the rope back to the car halving the pull force, and cuting your amp usage right down. edit: but as tanshi points out if you want speed go the 8.5k+ options |

at 1800kg with the 9500 evo yeah your looking at 2.8 times the current draw, but your also also looking at getting your winching done nearly 4 times faster |

definitely agree, but coinciding Tyddy's posts have been about 40mm OME lifts, how to put on a bullbar, underbody protection and how to put on diff breathers im going to go out on a limb and guess he will only be winching for mere seconds to pull the diffs or axle housings over something. plus at that level of experience a slower winch leaves you more time to think and learn. slower can sometimes be faster. in this case it will leave money in the budget for 215/75's so he wont need the winch as soon. |

Yea in all reality I don't really care if is abit slower to effect the recovery. I was leaning towards the 6000 lbs winch but I have changed my mind and think I will go the 9500 lb only because heaven forbid I sell me little zook in the future and get something bigger the 9500lb will be able to go on the front of it. According to runva rep their is only about 7.5 kgs weight difference which I think wont make that much difference (correct me if I am wrong). But I will contact Dan before I do anything. Thanks for the advice |

it's the older version of the one linked in the OP that was $549, only over $200 cheaper. could change the line later if needed. |
