Hi all,
Just bought my Vitara SWB '98. Got 31" tyres on with a 2 inch suspension lift. The tyres is still bash against the body when i turn.
What is the best solution to lift the body and how high would you recommend ?

Any help would be appreciated.

Steering stops can be adjusted and that can help.

Have a look at where the tyres are scrubbing - I bet it's at the rear edge of the front wheel arch. My guess is that a body lift isn't going to make all that much difference to tyre contact at that spot - because the guard is almost vertical at that point and the contact point is at the centreline of the tyre, (viewed from the side)

With the Vitaras I've played with, tyre contact has been on the inner guard - cutting of the actual panel wasn't required. This might depend on rim offset though.

I have nothing at all against body lifts and made a few for Vitaras back in the day, but my experience has shown a body lift is not required for 31's. Neither is cosmetic guard cutting.

Test fit a set of 30" tyres.

I am in the same situation with my early 90s swb on 31s. In my case having checked both extremes, it rubs on the outer guard, hence looking at cutting that.

It goes close but not that close on the inner side.
