Just purchased a Grand Vitara with a H25A suffering from the well documented number 1 tensioner problem.

It has been stated on more than one dated posts regarding the matter that the Suzuki's set time for the job is either 8 or 9 hours however our local dealer is trying to take us for a ride and has quoted 14 hours or so, can anyone here put me onto either a remotely honest Suzuki Service Centre or Suzuki specialist in Brisbane/Gold Coast area who wont try and take us for a ride.

If you can find out the part numbers you need I can get you genuine Suzuki parts much cheaper than any Australian Suzuki dealer ad then you can just take to any mechanic that you trust

I think the book time, if it is 8 - 9 hours is a fair bit under what it would take to do a quality job - maybe if you were the 'go to' guy in a dealer & did 1 of these strip downs a week, you could get the time down close to 9 - 10 hours, but certainly not if you only had done a couple.
It really is just a fiddly, time consuming job, especially cleaning all the surfaces for new sealant.
Your Suzuki dealer has probably been caught in the past, with the work taking longer than is suggested but Suzuki & doesn't really want the job.
Good luck with it.

The book time would be very optimistic.

From my experience think of how long and how much it'll cost to do something and then double it.

Shop around, but I think you will get similar estimates.
