Ok so I have a sierra 34s all the go good stuff but lately have been to scared to take it out after having 3 very close calls with the police...... Has a big guard chop so I have been thinking of dropping stock suspension into it and a set of 31s.... Doesn't have a straight panel on it so not worried about having to have a crack on 31s.... Driveline and gearing would be bullet proof and hopefully I wouldn't have to worry about finding out where police are out bush..... Anyone done this or always just gone bigger? |

31's aren't legal anyway so if your car has panel damage and any issues with tyre coverage you'll get a canary regardless. Steve. |

Tyres are covered... Will have no lift and 31s... Surely 1" over in tyre size is better then 6! Haha Is panel damage in roadworthy? I'm just thinking out loud really.... It's either go to 31s or wheel it until its get a canary... Then start again.... Night drives are the future I think |

Yes. Panel damage is a roadworthy fail. 31's are 5" over stock and 3" over the largest legal tyre. |

Stock (WT) is 205/70r15 which works out to 26.3" |

Yep. 26". I don't actually think 7" rims are legal depending on offset. Steve. |

Yea mate need to wheel again soon you got me thinking about tyre size on the lj I think they were 600 16 on ljs equates to 28 inch I think. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong That means 31s are legal on ljs? Not sure about the width of mine though |

You need to look legal and safe, then they usually leave you alone, unless of course they want to hold you on suspicion of something serious. Need to go sleeper style |

Yeah mine is all legit as in tyres covered mudflaps for on road all light working ect it's just the tyres look so big with minimal lift and the dints! I don't want to go into it in an Internet forum but one time I avoided the police was thanks to a row of lifted patrols on 35s.... I don't look out of place when wheeling with patrols cruisers and I mainly wheel with jeeps on 37s or zooks.... It's when they look at tyre placards I would be done |

Our drover has a tyre placard listing 6.00r16 for all models except 4 seaters. There is a copy of the same placard on the forum somewhere. 600r16 is 28", modern equiv is 205r16 205/80r16 So 30" would be legal on 2 seaters. |

I believe that 31" tyres can be legally certed on commercial Sierras (2 seat vans and tray backs on 16" rims) and this has been used for justification that any Sierra can have a 31 certed, as all components are shared. |

Try the "errm officer, all those dents and shit are custom panel work. VSI 8 says its ok as the car is pre 1995" How many of your mods are reversible? Get spare flares, spare front clip and spare windscreen, or a car to temporarily swipe bits from if you have to present it to vicroads. Try to pull some of the rear dents out. Tyre wise, there's a couple of threads about placards etc. This is from a 1.0L ute I believe, stole the pic from want33s ![]() Its the same as on the drover. Get the tyre placard made/reproduced, so then you can run 30s, or you could try and track down the placard from the euro e47 that had 650-16 to try to run 31s, in either case you would need to remove the two rear seats. |

I don't run rear seats..... I think I'm just going to wheel it until the time comes then I will track down a lwb or ute and go from there! All it really has us a 2" lift that is about 1" because I have played with springs.... All the rest is guard chop.... |

Clean flares would make a pretty big difference to the visual impact of the car. Steve. |

I can't get stock flairs to fit! Haha got some in the shed... But I have been thinking about the Clark rubber flairs.... I might have a go at pushing out dints but the bottom corner of the passengers door the sill is that bent I can fit my fingers up between the sill and the door... Ill have to sort something out somewhere! Haha maybe just a body swap.... Anyone know of any body chops going cheap? |

Id fit up some full width rubber flares, ditch the simexs for a conventional muddy and it look like a whole differeng thing |

Yeah might do that! They are swampers and I love them but probably need anything so aggressive looking.... What's a good tyre in a 33-34 that looks tame but performs well? |

Bash the panels back in to shape and weld some plates over it like steve did Make some sliders and tube flairs to keep the rocks of the panels Just drive it with the 34 on it. If u get pulled over just swap some stockers on to it and get it cleared |
