I found somebody on here claiming to have put a LWB tank into their SWB.

This goes against every other post on here saying it can't be done of course...

They mentioned a custom shock bracket anda couple of other things.

I was hoping to ask him for more details but lost the post :-(

Okay given i had all those hits and no answers that others want to know to -)

Jdk81 said the following in may this year:

Yes it can be made to fit a SWB

You need;
to cut the fuel tank mounts off the chassis and make custom ones,
a body lift,
to move the rear shocks forwards a little,
to route the exhaust out the chassis rail,
bit of fiddling with the fuel filler.

JDK's comments you're quoting are for a LWB Vit tank into a SWB sierra. Is that what you're asking about?

When I read the title it sounded like you wanted a LWB Vit tank in a SWB Vit.

I would say you would need to make a new rear cross member and try and bend the lip of the tank down to make it fit. The tank lips sit under the chassis so they would need to be flat agains the tank to get it up higher between the rails .
U would need all new mounts as well.
U may need to mave the cross member in front of the tank aswell .

A lwb vit tank is wider, longer, and deeper, than a swb vit and it doesn't have that funny corner taken out.
The front x- member and mounts will certainly need work.
The rear may be ok.

I would give it a try.

The measurements of each tank are around the forum somewhere.

The measurements were what i was trying to find when I came accross the other info I started this thread with. I will measure up my LWB tank and space this weekend, at any rate/.
