So engine finally in the SWB Vitara Project, all ancillaries hooked up, fuel pump all good and working, all looms hooked up (i think)

TURN the KEY for Maiden fire up and arggg only Firing on one cylinder ... :| :| :|

Have double checked everything, checked dizzy and HT leads... cleaned everything, new plugs in as well, cracked the EFI Fuel Rail to bleed out air and all good. Still only Fires on number 1 cylinder. Also of note throttle position makes no difference to revs or engine speed.

Now banging head against wall...

Any suggestions appreciated.

Thanks

PS was running fine, albeit rough as guts, before i pulled out of doner car

Surprises me it will run on one.

Have you checked for spark?
Check you have a good earth lead off the block to the firewall.

When you turn the ignition on but before starting can you hear the injectors buzz briefly?

Yep whirring and buzzing from injectors for a few seconds and good pressure from fuel pump. Ive double checked the earths.

I haven't double checked all sparks again. will do that again next time I'm at the shed. Gonna order a new dizzy cap and rotor as when i pulled it off there was a lot of corrosion. Worth changing anyway

That was my very first thought. Don't like the thought of pulling them out to check, looks like a bit of a mission... but might be last resort after i replace dizzy cap and HT Leads etc.

Fingers Crossed.

Yes you're correct and I'm hoping this isn't the case :( ... The dizzy cap had a lot of corrosion inside on all the points so I'm hoping its just this simple fix but my hopes are fading.

Before you stress about replacing bits you should find out what is actually the problem. We have all done it but throwing parts at a problem is the most expensive and least effective way of fixing it.
A blocked injector or three can be serviced. They might never be great but you can probably make it run.

I would still start with spark, check, fix or eliminate that issue and then move onto injectors.

Exactly what i'm doing ... process of elimination ... Fingers crossed its the cheaper and simpler of the possibilities :)

:peaceout: ITS ALIVE !!!

Still not sure 100% what the issue was.

I bit the bullet and Pulled the injectors out and got them cleaned and serviced. They weren't that bad but not great either so was a worth while exercise. It wasn't a difficult job getting them out just tedious. At the same time I replaced all the HT Leads Dizzy cap and Rotor Button. My suspicion is the dizzy cap or HT Leads got damaged when hoisting out the engine ...

Anyhow all good... YeaHarrrr....

PS Sounds awesome without exhaust hahaha :rambo:
