Post subject:  GV clutch pedal hard to push
Hey guys,

Just wondering what would cause a H25A grand vitara clutch hard to push?
Clutch seems ok, gears are pretty good, reverse will crunch If i dont run through 1st and 2nd first.

But the pedal is rediculously hard to press. Im doing a lot of traffic driving now so I have to fix it.

I had the same complaint with mine (although j20a) until i changed the clutch two weeks ago.
I found the fulcrum pin was punching through the fork.

The clutch had signs of wearing thin for a while, like you describe trouble selecting reverse, and slow to shift in 1st and 2nd as the plate was not fully disengaging.
The one I replaced was an OEM Aisin, down to the rivets, probably the original clutch ,180,000km. I replaced it with an OEM style Exedy clutch, replaced the fork ($45 from Suzuki) and spigot bearing.
Now I have a nice light clutch pedal and my left leg thanks me for it.

The other thing I noticed was the old thrust bearing was sliding quite stiff on the input shaft shroud whereas the new bearing had good clearance.

Can anyone advise if dirty clutch fluid could make the pedal hard or is it most fefinately an internal issue?

I'd say it's not impossible, but I don't think it's very likely - my guess is it's either the clutch fork (I have one that looks just like it, the crack might be a wee bit smaller) or the release bearing.
