Hi Guys, name's Bunce,

Just bought myself a 1990 Sierra soft top to hunt with, I have always loved looks and so I'm really happy to have my own.

I drive a heavily modified Hilux when i go 4wding but its not practical for shooting.

Anyway I'm hoping to pick up some info from this forum. I've already had a lure and you guys seems to have a tight little community here and everyone seems to get along, unlike some other forums i visit

I got a quick question which could turn out to have a technical answer or a straightforward checklist to fix it, but it starts with a broken heater. Can anyone give me some pointers on where i should start my search on the car weather its a fuse or something more sinister.

Anyway Glad to be here and thanks in advance for your help!

bunce.

Broken heater as in water on the floor ?
I'm guessing fan not working
Some on here have reversed the fan and got stuck leaves out that way
Would check fuse first though and then for jamming if fuse blown
Then power to fan motor at all speeds

U can hole saw a hole in the heater box then vacume out the crap. Then just super glue a piece of plastic back over it or juat screw it on.
It could also be the heater tap or the wire that goes to the heater tap from the dash

thanks guys, i did have a look and traced the system back to the motor, fan works well but hardly any heat coming though, so I'm guessing the tap isn't letting though all the fluid?

The little wire that controls the heater allways bounces loose it's worth a look.

The tap is in the front of the firewall IIRC

Hi Bunce,

The back of the heater box fills up with twigs and leaves that come down through the grill in front of the windscreen. I cut out two of the grill fingers so I could get a vacuum tube in there and then put a cover (from LowRange) over the whole thing. They supply it with pk screws but I'm using rivnuts so it can be whipped off after each outing and cleaned up.

You can just see the black cover in this shot

We put the bonnet vent in to allow the body to sit down over the 1.6 fuel injection - easiest option at the time.

Welcome to Auszookers. It is a great community.

i had an issue with mine low on heat and the engine ran cold, i put in a new thermostat and now it comes up the temp quicker and the heater gets hotter, the old thermostat was stuck open slightly
