| Post subject: | Jimny diff centre replacement |
Hey all, any help would be greatly appreciated - we have busted the rear diff centre of our 2003 manual Jimny. From what I can find this is a 4.09 ratio...is this correct? What replacement options do we have...are any other model diff centres able to go in, or does it have to be the 4.09 ratio? Thanks! |

The 4.09 diff is unique to Jimnys so your best option is from a 99 to 2004 Jimny. Manual Jimnys from 2005/2006 onwards (with VVT engines) have 4.3 centres. Someone else maybe able to chime in about what the autos had. I have read they had 4.09 as well but not sure if that is consistent through the years. |

It has to be the 4.09:1 ratio - unless you replace the front diff as well with the same new ratio as the rear. |

All autos are 4.1. Also WT marutis had the 4.1 ratio and they don't break like jimnys, but they're very rare. |

Ok, thanks everyone for the info. So if the auto jimny rear diff is a 4.1 ratio we should be able to use one of those if we can't track down a non-vvt manual one? |
