hi guys my name is Tony I'm only new to suzukies I have a 97 vitara with a v6 in it.it has a 2inch body lift a 40mm suspension lift and I'm running 31s around .my biggest problem is it has no power flat out getting it to a 100km hour in 4th gear will not even pull in 5 gear . There 100kw motor I though it should have a bit more stick in it then it has. it was even like it before I did anything to it eg:16 inch wheels no lift . At wits end as to what would be causing it any help would be appreciated I live on the Gold Coast . Cheers Tony. |

Did you really expect there was someone just sitting waiting to answer you? Most of the folks you see here are on when they have time. If I assume that what you have is the V6 Vitara Estate, with the 2.0 litre H20A V6, it never had much poke to begin with, and the OE tire size would have been, I believe, a 27", so going to a 31" is going to result in a noticeable loss of get up & go - your current diff ratio should be a 4.6:1, a 5.125:1 should put you close to original - and please note, both front & rear need to be changed, assuming it's 4WD In addition to suz-rolly's suggestion - you're dealing with an eighteen year old car with an undisclosed number of kms, and an engine of probably unknown condition - ever had a compression test done? does it burn oil? is it time for a rebuild? or a 2.5/2.7 swap? |

I'm no mechanic but I've noticed these have a reasonable effect: EGR valve clean, plugs, fuel filter, timing, cat blocked and tyre pressure with the larger tyres? If your after a diff ratio, I have a good front diff 5.375 ratio from a vitara going really cheap. |

5.375? Really? That's worth a FORTUNE locally as that ratio was never available here. Steve |
