Having a problem with cold starting so I'm looking at the carburettor the plate on the inuside is really loose, doesn't stay locked anywhere, it moves when it is supposed to but isn't really connected to anything, is that normal |

Are you referring to the choke plate? At the top of the carb, on a spindle, opens & closes when the spindle rotates? How can it move when it is supposed to if it isn't really connected to anything - what's going to move it? No, that is not normal - it usually has a linkage that connects to a bimetallic actuator and a bunch of springs & cams - the bimetallic actuator is the "heart" of the mechanism and is what closes it when the engine is cold, and opens it as the engine warms up, the cams & springs are fast idle and that sort of stuff. |

I know it's confusing and yes it is the choke plate I was referring to. So it shouldn't be loose that's what I thought ok now I need to find another carb to see how it should be so I can fix it. Thanks |
