Is there any way i can work out my front and rear difr ratios without counting teath?

Given i hav a different ratio front to rear i need to replace one of course.... dont hav somewhere i can pull it apart.

You have a different ratio front to rear? How did that come about?

Anyway, put the rear of the car on axle stands, mark the driveshaft and a tyre, count the number of rotations. Something like this:

How? Previous owner did lots of stupid things to the car. (see my thread in the owners car forum)

I was actually thinking of something like that for the back. Wondering how do do the front.

My guess is if I put it in 4wd, and jack up 2 of four wheels (so the rear can move ok), then i can wind a front wheel and look at the tail shaft. All I need is an assistant and the axel stands I don'
t have with me :-)

I actually expect a universal to let go on the tail shaft soon so won't be driving home until I get it addressed. Which is why I am trying to work out what I can do here in appartment below ground car park...

Do the front exactly like you do the rear, except lock the hubs in - jack up one wheel and rotate the wheel two complete turns whilst counting the drive shaft rotations.
