So i need to replace my front right hand side wheel bearing on my 2008 jimny. Was just wondering if anyone has any experience with this. Also if its able to be done at home or if i would need to take it to a mechanic and how much should i be looking at forking out to get it fixed. Cheers Gab |

You will need the BenT hub nut removal tool http://www.auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=15009 And a big torque wrench. Other than that you don't need any special tools. Easy enough to do on jack stands in you garage. Here is a great guide http://www.bigjimny.com/images/documents/Changing_the_Front_Wheel_Bearings.pdf Here is an old thread that I started years ago (when I was a special tool) that covers some aspects of the hub removal and also kingpins service. http://www.auszookers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19943 There are various other threads that go over front hub bearing related maintenance if you can search for them. |

It's simple if you have a torque wrench that can run to 220Nm - that's a pretty big torque wrench. I imagine there are preload or starting torque specs for the hub once reassembled. I'd be wanting to get those figures from the FSM. Steve. |

I did mine 2 weekends ago using a mallet and large sockets to push the bearing out/in. longest part of it all was the dis-assembly of it all, 220Nm (16lb-ft) is the only figure they give you in the FSM |

That is correct the FSM specifies 220Nm. |
