Went looking for the on board diagnostic plug on my '98 Grand Vitara the yesterday and couldn't find it :oops:

Found a plug on the drivers side of the engine bay but it doesn't look right going by this:

The one I found has six pins, the one in the diagram looks like it has twelve.

the plug you are looking for has 6 pins, mines near the airbox on the drivers side. the one in the diagram is a 6 pin plug, its just showing the little contact points.

it should have a rubber franga over it for protection?

Yep got the same thing near the airbox. Just don't want to go shorting the wrong pin out!
