Post subject:  Sierra SJ70 transmission leak

I have a 92 sierra sj70 with a g13ba. The 5 speed seems to be leaking oil and it's soaking the rear transmission mount. It seems like it could be the output shaft seal. Although I read it is dry in the rear case. Where else should I be checking? It is transmission fluid for sure.

Do i need to remove the transmission to be able to troubleshoot this? I checked out the FSM but it looks like a little bit of work if i have to get the transmission out.

I'm going to have to pull it out aren't I?

Gearbox output seal can be done with the box in the car still. May have to unbolt Tcase to move it over slightly to get jackshaft out.

If you do have to remove transmission it isnt that hard if you put a notch in the crossmember to drop it down.

Overfilling the gearbox will cause it to leak as well.
