Post subject:  1st time Jimny buyer need advice...

G'day all, never really posted, been a member and stalker for a while until i sold my 92 SWB Vit... Being Zookless for the past 2 years has hurt so taking the plunge again. :D

Want something newer so going down the Jimny path, decided to go for an Auto... just prefer the control they offer offroad(after owning a triton for the past 4 years)

Anyways my question is I've got about 5 grand for the car and another 5 for mods 8) which will cover the basics for me. Jimnys for that money have any where from 150,000km-200,000km is this a concern providing they have a solid service history? from what i've seen most are stockers which i'm happy with as i prefer to do the tickering myself. :)

So yeah, any advice Jimny owners can offer would be much appreciated

Cheers.

its a good safe path. get something 06+ with VVT so if the old engine dies or you need more power you can spend 1000 bucks on a m18 swap.
try to find something with death wobble and bad paint.

with mods youll make it death wobble then have to fix it anyway so may as well get something cheaper from day dot. bad paint means you can actually cut it up and drive the tits off it without worrying about it.

as for 5 k of mods, the first 100 bucks of that should be a 5" grinder and a box of 1mm cutting discs.

a tow bar isnot a selling point unless you are willing to accept that its going to use 15-20 l/100k while towing, in 3rd at 4500 rpm.

after a triton a jimny is going to feel pretty basic, smashing your elbow on your passenger and the door cards.

its the first thing to come to mind first time you try to get one to 100kph. im assuming its not going on a trailer behind the triton.
