IT WORKS LIKE THIS.............

The Glind Heat Exchanger is inserted into the vehicle's heater line. A robust 12 volt marine pressure pump draws water from any source - bucket, on board tank, creek - though a separate line in the Heat Exchanger. The shower water does not mix with radiator water or coolant.

With the vehicle idling and running at operating temperature, slide the heater control on the vehicle dash to hot and this will transfer waste heat from the engine's cooling system to the shower water. The result is incredible - as much hot water as the supply will give - instantaneously!

ive been looking at it a bit more

on mine I used the helton but just the heat exchanger, I didnt get the kit
then I got 2 brass tee pieces (helton give you plastic, no thanks)
2 heater hoses off a falcon (have a tight 90* bend in one end needed to get the hoses round)
some 10mm heater hose (goes from pump to heat exchanger)
some airline fittings so I can just unhook the pump and hand piece when I'm finished
for the pump and showerhead bit I just got a cheapy 12v shower for like $20

overall it cost a few $$$ more than the kit but fits a lot better and if it does fail I still have all the standard heater hoses fitted so I can bypass it if need be.

the only bits I havent liked about it are to do with the cheapy shower used, I have killed about 4 pumps so far and the switches always play up, you can get a shower made by primus for $30 which appears to be better quality but still uses the dicky switch

so for me I'll have to buy a proper pump that can at least be mounted under the bonnet then so I can also suck water from a normal drum and dont worry about the submersable pump not fitting in the lid, I'll also cobble up some better switch setup, maybe in a little box with a light or something that easy to hang in a shower tent/tree/side of car

so total cost with new pump and stuff would be about $340-$350 and the unit os a nice size and layout for a zook, you could go the little Glind if you arent sucking water from a creek for not much more money, but I dunno if it would be too big, especially if you are going to fit dual batteries

I got 1 made years ago from a 3' copper tube and some 1/2" copper tub coiled inside. The 2 ends of the 3" tube were Braised up after putting a inlet for the Radiator water and a outlet at the other end. Inside the 1/2" tube was coiled up and placed in side with the ends coming pout through the sides of the 3" it was about 350mm long but one 200mm will work just as well.

The 3" tube held the Radiator water and the 1/2" had the fresh water pumped through with just a inline filter from a marine centre.
What we hound is if you recycle the water from a 20lt container till you got the temp for the shower and then fitted to the end a shower head it worked a treat.
If you use it direct from the unit and turn it off while having a shower it would heat up so much it would burn you as it stayed in the heat exchanger to long I have Pic's if anyone need them.
I had it fitted under the body along side the chassis with the freshwater inlet and outles run to the side of the vehicle with the extra hose and compassity it ended up about 3lt of water os if the vehicle ever got hot we would just send it through the heat exchanger via the heater controlls.
