Hi Guys

I have a couple of questions regarding flywheels and spigot/input shaft bearings .
“I am guessing that the input shaft bearing and spigot bearing are the same thing”

Im am currently in the process of installing a new chinese f8a engine into my LJ81 ute.
The chinese engine came all setup in carry van spec . I have to exchange a few parts from my old Suzuki manufactured f8a engine , such as manifolds distributor drive gear and its housing and the fly wheel.

I have thus far removed the flywheels from both engines and I have noticed that the chinese f8a has no spigot bearing in the crankshaft ,whereas the Suzuki manufactured f8a does .
In contrast to this the chinese f8a has a bearing located in the centre of the flywheel for the gearbox input shaft to fit through and the Suzuki manufactured f8a does not .

Does anyone know the answer to my problem ? can I use a f10a flywheel ? as I read they have the spigot bearing in the centre of the flywheel.

Regards Scotty .[img][http://s1370.photobucket.com/user/nzscott/media/65255fb954a951e91442551114_zpsa2c7kele.png.html?sort=3&o=4/img]

Impugn shaft and spigot bearing are the same yes, can't you just buy a spigot bearing and pop it into the flywheel? (Your realy supposed to replace the spigot bearing every time you replace the clutch) when one buys a new flywheel regardless the engine it's for- they never give you angered spigot bearing

I will counter that and say that the input shaft bearing is the first bearing in the gearbox. As opposed to a spigot or pilot shaft bearing in the flywheel or crank shaft.

What I am thinking is that the input shaft on your lj81 gearbox is longer than the carry van version requiring a clearance hole through the flywheel with the spigot bearing in the crank. What you might find is that with the f10a flywheel it puts the bearing too far back, the spigot will bottom out in the bearing too early and your bellhousing will not mate up to the block.
I am not familiar with the specifics of these engines though, so only guessing that may be the case.

hi . I have done some more research and discovered that I can turn out the centre hole in my donor lj81 flywheel from 19.25mm to 26.00mm to accommodate the spigot bearing and I may have to shorten the input shaft of the lj81 gearbox ,although just by looking at the two crankshaft ends ,they appear to be identical .

I have tried to up load a photo of the two flywheels and the two crankshaft ends where the input shaft connects . for some reason the photo wont upload to this thread , any ideas on uploading a photo would be appreciated . I am trying to oad the photo via photo bucket.
