G'day everyone, im just wondering if anyone can tell where else does engine oil leak from between the gear box and engine, i thought is was the rear main seal, got that replaced and its still leaking. Any other seals that leak oil around that area? Cheers |

Yeah,distributer housing,new o ring and sealant needed.Many Mechanics mis-diagnose leak as a rear main seal. |

Distributor shaft /body to housing o-ring is the most likely, as above, but even the rocker cover can dribble a bit down the back, as wind flow over the engine, pushes the oil rearward. Really need to degrease well, including the back of the engine (spray cans of brake cleaner are effective) take the car for a drive/s, use a small mirror on a stick if you need to, until you see the start of a wetness trail. Could still be the rear main seal, if it got nicked or put in crooked, or if the surface it runs on has a groove in it. Good luck, Rgs Michael |

....before you clean it all up do the Dizzy. O ring first, they all harden and fail eventually, just be careful that you note the position of the rotor when you remove dizzy so you don't lose your timing. There is a thread on here somewhere showing a step by step on replacing O ring,i think they use red RTV as the sealant. |
