Morning all, washed car after great beach run yesterday, rescued a Jeep . It had to be done, no one else braved the F-ING hot sand. I carefully hosed engine bay around engine with little pressure last night, 02 GV V6 now stumbles and misfires, loses power, back off the accelerator then reapply and away it goes.
Could it be Wet plugs? Should i remove and dry, dry the leads and replace?
Leave it go will dry out by itself?
Go for a good highway run to dry it out?

Never had this issue, must have just wet something i shouldnt have by mistake.

Any thoughts, ideas would be helpful.

It does indeed sound somewhat like a missfire, however the backing off and re applying sounds a bit funny. Usually if it's miss firing it will miss fire no matter what revs you are at..

I'd check the plugs, just dry any water around their base before removing.. And make sure they are sealing properlly when you put them back in.. Im not 100% sure on the GV v6 but I think that'd a coil pack engine. If so check that hasn't been flooded or the lead contacts don't have any residue in them on. Both ends..

Worst situation could be water in the fuel line if it wasn't sealed properly. It would only need the tiniest amount to stumble.

Unsure where coil pack is but ill investigate.

The GV engine does use distributorless coil packs, and it is possible to get water down into the plug tubes if a pressure washer is used to wash the engine bay, or if the coil pack "probes" are damaged - these probes are available separately, and in my mind, should be treated like plug leads and considered as replaceable "tune-up" items - when refetting them, look closely at the top end and you will see a breather hole - rotate the probe so the breather hole is under the body of the coil pack, this reduces the chances of water making it through the hole into the tube.

Got a scan tool and it turned out to be 02 sensor.

A faulty O2 sensor by itself wouldn't display those symptoms.

I would suggest that you have an O2 code because you have a misfire. The ECU will see excessive oxygen content in the exhaust gas stream due to the unburnt mixture caused by the misfire, and then throwing that code.

Carry out checks as per Fordem would be the go.

Ok im going to be an expert on these things one day.
Removed each coil, pulled "probe" tube off, cleaned away sand and other residue from the underside lip of the coil and brushed top of esch tube clean, inspected both ends, rotated as suggested with breather beneath, replaced. Started idle for a minute or two, went for a fang around the local industrial estate, seems to be a potential fix. Its back to the power and reviness it had previously, no mising or stumbling...... for now.

Inside each tube lives a coil spring, just removing, rotate, clean and refit my have just established a decent connection on each spark plug.

Ill know later if it runs rough again if its something else to investigate. Ran well from a cold start (even thouh its a hot day lol).
