Have read a few posts about this... could be done but the price would be scary.
I would love more range in the tank but will get a jerry holder on a trailer or on the rear bar much cheaper and a custom fuel tank I would imagine would have the jim off the road for at least a week or more :(

only custom tank i've seen in a jimny is on the bigjimny forum & the user cut away the boot section (where the jack is stored) & placed a stainless tank in that location.

U could put a plastic boat tank in the back and just plumb the breather and filler into the original and gravity feed it down to the stock tank

im designing one. we are looking at the amount of clearance the tail shaft hase from the tank and gaining there but its a while off

From what I have read, it is possible to gain some fuel space, but only around 10 litres or so.. So for the $1500 + that it costs to make it, its not worth the investment. The drive shaft is the biggest killer here. It reduces the space dramatically. A body lift could increase this, but not by much.

hahaha 1500 dollars is ridiculous. im looking at less than half of that

I will have a 40-50 litre aux tank worked out in a few months similar to the longranger aux tank but not $2500 and able to be self fitted.

I found and rang a company in Vic I believe called BROWN DAVIS and he said yes I can do a replacement tank of 60 litres but he needs to have a donor jimny for a while so it can be made to suit. And it would be around $1000ish to have it done.
I'm in SA,doh

Heaps of room under a jimny for an aux fuel tank.

Thanks Shep, love the idea but I'm really after a tank to replace my standard tank without having to carry extra.
My zook will never be a full on mud or rock crawler, more of a tourer and everyday cruiser.

I feel like if suzuki were to make the new model Jimny come stock with a 60/70 litre tank that it would be a big selling point..... of course then you loose more of your carrying capacity....But then surely suzuki could up the GVM by another 30-50kg...? ....That being said....and then an M16a engine...and a replacement gearbox....but then they fit it all in a suzuki swift as standard what's so hard about a Jimny :p

Well, follow that logic and you end up at a defender 90 or jk wrangler.

& a car costing twice as much & losing what made it great in the first place, being lightweight.

Do you know what a auxiliary fuel tank is? It is a second tank under the car, push a button to switch between the two tanks.
