allo dare. Does anyone know of any company's that can make a Nudge bar to suit a Facelift Jimny? ARB dont,TJM dont and a few others I have emailed advertise to suit Jimny but when contacted they said not my model, im waiting on Bossco auto to get back to me but im not holding my breath on this one. I found an awesome looking nudge bar overseas at 4x4styling.com but it's real expensive compared to what i have seen so far here Thanks in advance |

why on earth would anyone want a "nudge bar"? - if I was an insurer, I'd add 20% to the premium to anyone who fitted one -they increase the cost of panel repair in the event of a minor accident. |

For nudging.. Alternatively good for mounting driving lights and UHF antenna if your not planning on fitting a Bullbar.. Not normally something I'd put on a car personally, but I used to have a Holden wagon that I did heaps of country K's at night in. Good driving lights on a nudge bar did the trick. No way I was putting a full roobar on |

A small bracket behind the bumper providing reinforcement to mount lights etc on is generally all that's required. |

Yes i've seen the number plate style bracket's also however my plastic front bumper seems quite bouncy and that would make the light shake around,I had the same issue on my pulsar when I had that as I used the number plate style bracket on that, never again. So I want the Nudge bar to mount a light bar up front as being fixed to the chassis it will be rigid and I know here in SA I am not allowed to have light's on the roof as when my car was over the pits to inspect my engine conversion he told me so then. I'm not wanting a full on roo bar although some look quite good but not for me and the nudgie comes with an extra tab for an aerial so later i can install a UHF perhaps. Any way at this rate with the few company's I emailed not getting back to me it may not eventuate anyhow. |

If you can get any nudge bar of the dimensions you want, its a simple matter of making brackets to suit the car. (or have them made by a fab shop) |

Agreed. The small brackets IMO aren't very strong unless one wants to over engineer their own. I also mounted HID Rallye 4000's which protrude backwards a long way, those brackets don't normally accommodate such a deep driving light. But anyhoo, each to their own. Have you tried ECB? They do a bunch of 70mm nudge bars for all sorts of cars |

I rang ECB and they only do the previous model jimny, not mine unfortunately. Never mind I will get something sorted eventually but good to get ideas. |

These guys do one. $595 for the bumper height one, and $695 for the one that covers the grille. http://www.ama4wd.com.au/index.php?a=de ... 208&id=908 http://www.ama4wd.com.au/index.php?a=de ... 08&id=1799 |

Have you considered the impact those nudge bars will have on the vehicle's approach angle? Even if you have no intention of any serious off road activity, you need to look at the clearance between the lower edge of the bumper and the kerb where you park. |

I can't see how the antenna tab on the side of either of those bars is legal from a sharp protrusion standpoint. IMO a steel bumper type bar makes more sense than a nudge bar if you are just looking to attach accessories to it |

Reubs wrote: IMO a steel bumper type bar makes more sense than a nudge bar if you are just looking to attach accessories to it Q1 - What is the weight of said steel bumper type bar? Q2 - What is the impact of said weight on the ride height of the vehicle? Q3 - What is the effect of said weight on the handling of the vehicle, given it's position on the very front edge of the vehicle? If protection from animal strikes is not a primary consideration, the "side effects" and the remedial costs associated with a steel bumper type bar can make it quite impractical, and more so if accessory mounting is the primary focus. Having said that - I think nudge bars are a waste of time, and I can't see myself fitting one to any vehicle I own. |

So what is a practical option for mounting lights, etc without going the full bull bar option, or one of those steel bars? I agree those steel bars are overkill just for mounting things. |

This is a good point as I had not considered that and one day I may want to do some off-roading. |

And I have seen a number of pictures of jimnys with nudge bars now and it does seem that it may get in the way clearance wise. |

So I am now looking for a 20 or 22 inch light bar to mount in the front of my bumper which can be done neatly. Anyone heard of Big Red light bars? Good price and seems alright with Cree LED and so on Thankyou |

Im afraid I am unable to do pics, however today me and the bloke at my forby shop discussed installing it into the plastic mesh type grille area above the number plate in the top of that area.(hope that makes sense) It will be neat and flush and as the single row lightbar is approx 53mm high it should'nt look out of place, upon googling today I saw a car done like this and I did'nt mind it. |

spirro wrote: So what is a practical option for mounting lights, etc without going the full bull bar option, or one of those steel bars? I agree those steel bars are overkill just for mounting things. Never having examined a Jimny, I couldn't say for certain - on some of the Jimnys I've seen the "grille" is attached to the bonnet and clearance above the bumper can be an issue as that grille will swing forward as the bonnet lifts, others appear to have a separate grille, and if that is the case, it should be possible to rig some sort of mount that positions the lamp above the bumper. There also appears to be a space within the bumper itself that might be able to accommodate low profile rectangular lights or a small LED bar, although that might place the lights a little lower than optimal. Aerials can be mounted to brackets that can be mounted in a variety of places, I've seen spare tire mounts and Z shaped brackets mounted to front wing bolts I have two vehicles with plastic bumpers, a 98 GV and a 98 Pajero iO, both have Hella 500s apparently mounted directly to the plastic bumper - on the GV the lamps are mounted to a bracket cut from steel angle that goes under the grille to the cross-member, on the iO, the lamps mount directly to the bumper rebar. Neither vehicle has a radio (other than the standard AM/FM radio) as local regulations would require licensing, if I were to fit a radio the antenna would probably end up near the base of the windshield. Like most modifications, some degree of creativity is required along with a willingness to take things apart to see how they fit together. By the way - I'm not against a "full bull bar" - if ARB offered one for the GV, it's possible I would have bought one, if I were in Australia I would consider one of the JML ones (I can't be bothered to work out the logistics of shipping it half way around the world), so what I have is a "portfolio" of ideas, and at least one cardboard model - what I want is a way to properly mount a winch without adding a ton of weight to the front of the vehicle. |
