Hi all,

I purchased a Japanese import Suzuki Jimny 1995 JB31W, that is basically a Sierra SJ70 with single point EFI, AC, power steer etc. the previous owner installed ironman lift springs and they are shite! flexed it and it can't even get to the bumpstops, and the front bumpstops have already been lowered.

Been reading all the posts about lift springs and OME vs Ironman vs EFS etc. and seems like general consensus is that ironman springs are too stiff and need leafs removed to get some flex.

dumb question, but which leafs do you remove from the pack? my guess is that you start with the shortest ones and move upwards... can you/would you remove leafs from the middle?

would also be good to know if someone has altered their ironman springs and got a result they are happy with.

Cheers,
Mark

I run 3 Leaf in the front and 4 in the rear.

From memory i believe i removed the 3rd leaf from the rear and bottom 2 from the front

Thanks for the info Shiv.

I took out the rear load leaf and 1 leaf from the bottom of the pack on the weekend.... flexes much better now and can reach the bump stops. The spring inverts when it sits against the bumpstop, never saw the factory springs but since the shackles and bumpstops are unchanged, then the factory springs must also invert under full flex too??

here is a pic. not sure how long the springs will last doing this but the flex is much better.

Are the shackles standard length? The Japanese are fond of a long shackle.

Don't think so. they are about 75mm eye to eye.

this is the best pic I could find.

Ok. All good- then the spring is working in its designed range.

Be prepared to loose significant lift height and you may find axle wrap excessive depending on traction, but less lift/rate is always better than more.
