Vehicle in question is a 96 Vitara V6 (SV620) Has anyone taken the viscous fan off and installed an electric? did you use a fan controller or is there a factory wire somewhere I can use as a trigger? |

I knew someone was going to ask that... the viscous clutch is not working as well as it should/I hate the noise it makes/ ever so slightly less drag on the engin |

Go right ahead. A less effective, more complex, "suck it and see" solution must be better than the cooling system as Suzuki designed it. |

More complex, prehaps. But hey with that attitude why modify anything on our vehicles and leave them completely as they were designed. |

I modify things that need improvement due to my changed parameters of use. I won't remove a simple and effective system and replace it with a more complex and less reliable solution when there are few if any tangible gains. Even so, it's often lots of work and lots of trial and error modifying things that DO require it, and in the case of the cooling system, failure might result in a dead motor. Lots of people modify things that don't do anything to improve the car, in the interest of fiddling with something. Good luck. Steve. |

It probably just needs some extra jelly in it. Y spend hours and hundreds of dollars instead of a $20 fix |

Any thermo fan that moves any where close to the volume of air that the stock fan moves is going to be way louder |

I was reading the specs on the current Camaro cooling fan. That consumes 850 watts. That's probably 4hp at the crank. It fascinates me that apparently mechanical fans sap all this power compared to thermos- where do these people think the power comes from to run the thermo fan? The same crank.... Just in a less efficient way. |
