I am after some advice on my next course of action. My 98 Jimny Recently underwent a G16b conversion by my girlfriends brothers garage, I did my research and was going to undertake the work myself after sourcing a very good low Km Baleno engine, purchased a kit from BenT and got hold of a skinny starter. Unfortunately due to working shifts away from home, time was not on my side. After much reassuring I agreed, to his offer of going ahead with the work. Huge mistake. I received the Jimny back with leaking heater hoses and a flashing oil pressure light at low idle only. I sorted the hoses and went about replacing the oil pressure sensor hoping that would solve the problem. It did not. Drove it back to the garage after being again reassured by both my partner and her brother it will be rectified, went away to work again. Came back 3 weeks later, my girlfriend had picked the car up for me and there it was waiting in the drive, I couldn't wait to take it off road. Turn the key and the oil pressure light is still flickering. Arguments commenced and I split up with my girl. I do not intend to take it back to the garage so I am trying to problem solve my way out of this and would really appreciate some of your guys knowledge and help. There are 2 possible problems I think I should start with, since I have already replaced the oil pressure switch I am thinking maybe the G16b requires a non return oil filter? If this is not the case should I drop the sump to see how he grafted the oil pick up together? Thanks in advance. Dangles |

Yeah check the pick up and while your checking that check the relief valve in the oil pump isn't seized |

Do you know for sure the condition of that "very good low km Baleno engine"? Yes - a poorly done pickup will cause oil pressure issues - but it is not the only possible cause. No, the G16 engine does not require a filter with an anti-drain back valve, and even if it did, it would have no effect on oil pressure beyond the first 2~3 seconds after start-up. By the way I suggest you not drive the car until you rectify the issue - if it is sucking air on the intake, you'll be pumping frothy oil foam to the bearings rather than oil, and that does not lubricate as well as liquid oil does - I had an engine seize on me once that way. |

Engine was good, mechanic was not. Dropped sump to find he hadn't grafted the top of the Baleno pick up to the Jimny's. It was loose as can be. I am going to try to seal the standard pick up onto the block as I don't have a Baleno one handy. I will see how I go and if the light is still on I will source a Baleno pick up and drop the sump and graft it. |

Get the correct pickup. Don't compromise the oil feed. |

Suzystore sells a little bush/spacer for this exact purpose. Bit of sealant and you're away. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That's assuming it's the same size as a Sierra pickup. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Yes he charged me $1k! A vey expensive lesson learned. All sorted now, time to install the Xrox bullbar that arrived in the post the other day. I have all day tomorrow to figure it out, but the instructions that are included in the kit are awful, might be on here asking for advice as i cant find anything concise around the web. Ive read through your build thread GraphicX more times than i care to admit, great job and thanks for putting all the info up, i learned a lot from it. |
