I can't remember if there was a recall or not but was there an issue with the transfers in the first gen Grand Vitaras?

Wasn't it the very first, earlier ones that had an issue with the chain? Or something to do with the drive?

I believe it was the front output drive.... but cant be certain.

If anyone has the part number for the replacement bits please post it.... ive got another t/case causing me problems. Skipping drive to the front wheels

not sure if thats the same problem im having but cheers.

Mine doesnt jump out or 4wd completely.... it seems to slip drive to the front and make horrible banging noises when it does. At first i thought it was the locker but now im not so sure..

There were two different 4WD related issues with the early SQ series - one was the freewheel clutch in the front differential slipping, and the second was the transfer case jumping from 4H back to 2H.

Yes i did. that was worn out bearings in the case allowing the input shaft in the transfer to flex and skip drive. I replaced the transfer and problem was solved.

Im having similar issues again but haven't had time to look into it....
