Hey all, was just wondering what is the best way to give my radiator a full flush out, and what to refill it with.
The previous owner didnt care much for the car, needless to say the radiator was pretty manky when I got it, and have drained and hose flushed (both ways) a few times now, however I am still getting a bit of mank every flush.

Should I just keep flushing it or should I run something else through the radiatior?

Should I be using coolant or just demineralised water? I am just running water at the moment to try to help with the flush, however just had the carbie redone and dont want to block up the idle system like it was.

Have you used a radiator flush?
I don't bother with demineralised water.
Flush, flush, flush and flush some more.

The heater core is probably holding some grossness.
I had a car which always had heater core issues because of what previous owner put in the car.

Probably a good idea to install some new heater and radiator hoses.
Depending on how the radiator cleans up, replacements arent overly expensive.

Not many corners to cut when it comes to cooling systems.

No I havn't used a radiator flush, is there one out there that is recommended?

Is it worth taking the whole radiator to a specialist?

The car isn't overheating, just trying to get on top of things before they become a problem.

Just get a new one from ebay for $120 the only way to properely flush the radiator is to take the end tanks off and rod the core (most shops will charge $100 +)

A hose set is about $70.

Use what ever rad flush is on special and flush it.
Then flush it with water a lot.
I put the hose directly into the heater and flush it out both ways multiple times.
Get the heater core and motor as clean as possible.

New hoses, new rad, new coolant and providing the water pump is good, itll be like fonzy.
