Post subject:  1993 gti engine in a zook need info tried search and 2 pm n/
i have tried searching and been thro so many treads with little info
so thought i would pm people asking also no replys

so here we go i have found myself a 93 model gti engine with 130,000ks on the clock 4 $800 and he will help me with any other parts i may need 4 this engine like return lines fuel pump ect

well i have found 1 adapter from suzi sport 4 $395 but is there a cheaper option asi recon thats a bit of a rip off
also what dizzy would u run with this adapter can u still run the standard gti dizzy or do u have 2 mod anything

i have a sj80 what do i have 2 do 2 run a return line 4 the injected engine

is there any other little things that have 2 b done 2 make things fit does it clear the break booster fine ect


um what about what flywheel do i have 2 run and what clutch correct me if im wrong but i should run the oringal fly wheel and clutch 4 a sierra

ok fuel pump will the what did u guys do here did u run a pump in or out side ya tank if so what pump did u use


and is there anything i have forgot so far p.s i dont have 2 worry about wiring i have an auto sparky as a mate lol isnt costing me shit also while im here should i run a different computer or will the oringinal 1 b fine

if you got a mk2 or mk3 motor you can't use the angle drive kit anyway your best bet would be a mazda gtx distributor cap and rotor
use the standard sierra clutch flywheel and starter
in a coily tank i think people use vitara in tank pumps

ive got ahold of suzi sports and they recon the adapter fits the 93 model so i dont know if hes talking out his ass or what p.s will i need 2 cut anything out 2 allow room 4 the dizzy

i'm not too sure chinny used a mk3 motor and couldn't use the right angle adaptor either way (using 323 dizzy cap or right angle drive) you shouldn't have to touch the firewall

PM Joeblow, he might be able to help you with a dizzy drive angle adapter.

It should have a return line already, just use that.

Not that i've read, have a look at Chinny's thread and examine the pics, you should be able to get a pretty good idea of the fit. I have a GTi engine at home and the intake manifold doesn't look that much bigger than that of a SOHC 16v and they fit fine.

If you're using your stock transmission, use the stock clutch and flywheel.

If you want to do it on the cheap just run a EFI pump. If you want to do it properly put in a surge tank, fed by a low pressure pump. Then your EFI pump is fed from the surge tank.

Swap the water pump for a Sierra water pump so you can run the Sierra fan, or run a thermo fan. You'll also want to swap over the Sierra sump and oil pickup. Have you thought about exhaust? There are no off the shelf solutions, best bet is to get a set of Sierra extractors modified with a GTi flange.

Just one more thing about the dizzy. If you are considering going for an aftermarket ECU you should look at ditching the dizzy altogether. Most after market systems can control ignition by using crank/cam position sensors and firing coil packs directly. I think whether you'll be able to do this or not will come down to your auto leccy mate, so ask him what he thinks.

yeah thanks alot 4 the info ay

i have been looking in 2 doing away with the dizzy all 2geather and yeah b looking at about 1000 bucks 4 the comp then prob cost me another 100 2 install it
plus then ya got 2 buy a 4 stack coil

and yeah 4 sure i would let every1 else know the info on it as like i said i did a big seach and couldnt find fuck ll info on this

going 2 run my quad carbs on the stock engine see how that goes first then if im not happy im selling the engine 2 chris and going with the gti engine

just wanted 2 weigh up the costs ect and what i will gain and have 2 do 2 get the gti engine in as apossed 2 just putting the stage 2 cam ported head and quads on my engine

as i can get my cam re ground 4 250buckks and another 250 bucks 4 porting

and for exhaust i have 2 sets of extracters here 1on the car and a spare set so no probs there

yeah got my cable yesterday cost me 76 bucks put in the the carbs and lines up great will b put in on my days off on thursday and friday next week
