Well, it's prolly no big deal to many, but I've just installed a Vitara 1.6 into my '87 NT Sierra. Many say it's not worth the effort- but this thing hauls arse! I used a BenT adaptor from NZ, my 1.3 head, 32/32 Weber, Camtech cam and Genie headers. Suzisport supplied the oil line adaptor along with the Vitara short motor. Used an Exedy 1.3 HD clutch. Had to massage the Sierra sump a little to accommodate the 1.6 bearing caps. After dynoing the Zuki to get the most out of the carb., I am suitably impressed. Bucketloads more torque and enough mumbo to snap you back in the seat in the lower gears. Just for the record I run a Calmini 5.14 transfer and 3.9 diffs. with 31s.Will be interesting to see any increase in economy as I have nowhere near the amount of throttle being applied as before. And it's no big deal grinding the Sierra starter to fit the new motor- not when you've got a spare dead one to practice on anyway!

did you already have gears with the 1.3?
or did they go in at the same time as 1.6?

What stage grind camtech did you get and how much was it if you don't mind me asking? I emailed them last week to get a price on a stage 2 grind but they never responded. :(

The Calmini gears replaced a Series 1 gearset some years ago. Camtech cam is a Stage 1 grind, selected for torque and good for 2000 to 5500. Price is irrelevant now as I bought it as a regrind a few years ago. Skid pics??!! Would only be skid marks in undies first time out with new motor....wouldn't wanna see them!! LOL.
