Does anyone have a 2.5 or 2.7 V6 block that they can measure the oil filter gasket contact area on please.

What I am after is the inner & outer diameter of the circular surface where the oil filter gasket seals against the housing on the block.

Thanks.

Just go to Super cheap and look at a filter there and add a couple of mm

Great idea, but I have looked at two already and they are different, so of no use.

Thanks anyway :-)

what are you planning on doing? fitting a remote filter setup?

That is the long term plan (when I can afford it) but for now I will settle for a longer (taller) filter that I have some chance of getting a wrench onto, or getting my hands around it to loosen / tighten. Bigger diameter cannister will help too.

There are many longer ones with the same thread (3/4" X 16 UNF), ADBV, similar psi relief valves etc, but I need to know what gasket size I can get away with.

I would like to use the common old Z9 (or a better quality equivalent like B2 Baldwin) because it is 140mm long vs 95mm one I have just put on. Bloody thing is going to be a real pain to get off, and I do not want to put another one like that on.

Who the fuck decided to put the oil filter there between the engine mount, the cross member and the exhaust?!? Bloody things are impossible to remove without getting oil everywhere! :x

I bet the engineer/trained monkey who designed that has a good laugh every time they think of someone trying to change a filter.

It is the second worst oil filter location I have seen after a Mitsubishi colt!

Well said mate!!!! My feelings exactly. The only one I have seen worse was an early model Nissan Exa Turbo.

They're designed by a contortionist, because you need to be one just to get at it, especially the current model GV! :? :? :?
