hey guys
can a 22 spline front air locker be easily be converted to 26 spline so as to run cromoly axles.
Is it just a case of changing the side gears in the locker

should be. Or you can plan ahead and buy two rear airlockers.

Just go down to ARB in Dandy and ask for the rear airlocker side gears. Or you can come to a zook club meeting and speak to one of the club members who happens to work in sales at an ARB store somewhere in VIC.

Yes, a 22 spl can be swapped for a 26spl crmo CVs. locker already come with 26spl side gears. just buy the 26spl n locker then u are good to go!

Ive already got (airlockers) them in both ends but im running cv's with burfieldrings and now Im thinking on updating to cromoly's so need to alter the existting front if possible.

I swapped my 22 arb gears to 26... no problems..
I think from memory the 26 side gear part numbers are 13011 & 13012 but I could be wrong.

You will need to open up the ARB centre & replace the sidegears.

ARB Part numbers:

131101
101201
One is a normal side gear & one is splined on the back.
About $60 bucks & $88 respectively.



(hint: When opening arb centre & you see a ring of small black bolts that dont seem to come undone easily or fit your sockets very well, pop the caps off them with a screwdriver! yes i made this mistake and screwed some of the caps )

not any more. they only sell gears as a complete set including the small spiders now.

never re-use the locking tabs, order new ones if you are going to pull it to bits.

Or buy an $8.50 tube of Loctite threadlocker.
If it's good enough to hold the crownwheel on it's good enough to hold the locker together.

do you have a personal example of a warranty claim with air locker?.......and no 'a friend of a friend' stuff.

I have never had or tried to make a claim against an ARB product.
I know that ARB warranty (on airlockers) is void if not fitted by an ARB prefferred shop(IE:ARB).
I would say a large number of lockers are fitted at home by their proud new owners hence no warranty.
AJSR wants to fit new side gears to convert his centre from front to rear, if he does this he will have no warranty, IF he currently has any warranty at all (I don't know who originally fitted his locker).

This is an ARB issue Joe, not a personal attack on you.

i know its not personel, but if he gets all the required parts, fits them correctly (torque, recomended thread lock etc) and assembles as per instructions warranty is not void.
