I've searched the engine bay including taking out the washer bottle and for some reason there's no wiring or plugs to be found for the windscreen washer bottle. I went to the wreckers and searched other GV's and as expected the wiring disappears into the factory loom however in mine there's absolutely no evidence of any wires cut, tape peeled back or anything.

It's got me stumped..

So what would be the best remedy to get the squirts again?

Is there any way other than adding the missing wires?

Your options are ...

a) Strip back the loom, find the cut wires & extend them.
b) Find the switch connections under the dash and run from there.
c) Replace the loom.

Personally I'd be looking at option a - you've been to the wreckers and seen the loom, you have an idea as to where the wires should come out, use a sharp blade and cut the tape at that location. All you need are two wires (one for the front pump, one for the rear pump) and a ground connection. I will admit that option a is easy for me because of personal experience, and might not be everyone's cup of tea.

I "bought" the wiring and plugs from the wrecker, the tricky part will be adapting it to mine.
It did cross my mind to hard wire it and have a carling rocker switch inside. I'll strip back the tape on it and hopefully there is some remnants of where it should be.

There is a 2001 XL7 wiring manual at Ack's FAQ (see link in signature, below). Access it by searching for xl7.

This is one of those "follow the table of contents pages to find the relevant pages" kind of manuals.

Look in the engine compartment section of the table of contents first to find the location and types of plugs. Then go to section 8-4 to see the actual wiring diagram. There you will find the front pump positive wiring starts with one color of wiring which changes to gray somewhere in the harness between the pump and the wiper controller switch.

Both the front and rear pumps are powered by a gray wire (Positive) and a black wire (earth).

Personally I like the simpler all-inclusive Sierra-style diagram - but we all must adapt to changing times, I guess.

Good luck and I hope this helps!

A kebab usually does it for me, but have to wait 2-3 days for it make a reappearance.

My FSM shows blue with a black tracer for the front pump, and gray for the rear.
