| Post subject: | XL-7 not starting |
Hey guys, Long story short, battery went flat in the xl7 wife went to try jump pack but was flat. So I swapped a newer battery into the car and tried to start it, car cranked over fine and just continued to crank but no fire. I've checked the fuel pump it's working, there is power to the coil packs as I tested them with my multimeter. Really racking my brain over this... Any ideas guys?? Thanks in advance |

Remove a plug, see if it's wet with fuel, reconnect it to the coil pack and check for spark - if you have both of those it's probably flooded - hold the throttle down (all the way to the floor) and crank in 15 second bursts until it fires. Holding the throttle down whilst cranking disables the injection to allow a flooded engine to clear. |

It doesn't have an immobiliser. Tried checking for spark as suggested plugs were dry checked it across the engine block while cranking doesn't thru a spark. I'm starting to lean towards a dead ecu or something in the ignition system anyone got any recommendations to try |

they have a built in imobilisor. it senses the key in the ignition and wont start without it. check all fuses as a start |

Yeah fuses are good, factory key is in the ignition so it should start. I don't have the remote for keyless entry as I lost it that won't have any issue on it tho will it |

So it's just a metal key? You need the key with the remote in order to start it - the factory metal-only key (which I also have, for taking on the boat and surfing etc) will only open the doors; the proper remote key is needed in order to get past the immobiliser. What happened to that key? |

When I brought the car it didn't come with it, I've changed battery's etc in the past and no issue like this. It's just factory metal Suzuki key |

So turns out the key isn't talking to the immobiliser. |
