Hey everyone got a noggin scratcher here, well for me anyway. My 94 1.3 zook is running like shit I have to drive it flat out to do 90. Every other day when I'm driving for a bit then go to turn in an intersection upon de accelerating it feels like it dies, then when accelerating again it shudders and runs like shit unless I hold my foot on the floor.

I've replaced spark plugs, rotor cap, leads, fuel filter and need to replace the carby air intake cap rubber seal as its sucking a tiny bit of air but don't think it will be doing that much damage. I'm presuming it'll be fuel related or maybe compression?? Dunno but it seems to be getting worse.

Any advice will be much appreciated,
Cheers, James.

Spewin, I'll try a new fuel pump and purge the lines and if that's no good I'll give that a go.

A few other things for your consideration.

Flat spots in acceleration or deceleration may just be blocked jets. Pull them out, clean them then put them back in.

Mr Rocky is likely correct, but you may be able to get away with a jet clean.

This is what a completely blocked jet looks like, it starves the engine of fuel at certain spots in your acceleration and deceleration.

This could cause lack of power and top speed too, but that could also be a number of other things such as a buggered catalytic converter.

Is the fuel old? Fuel that's more than a few months old can cause issues (unless it's very old it isn't likely to be that, but worth considering).

Hey mate cheers for that, I'll have to pull them out and have a look. And no it's my daily so fuel is new, hopefully it won't be nothing too serious but as we all know with our money draining zooks fuel prices are usually the last of our worries hah.

Cheers again mate.

I'd be replacing the vacuum hoses, or at least cutting a bit off all the ends. Take the air cleaner hose off, rev the guts out of it and hold a clean rag over the top of the carby...if that doesn't work, lash out and buy some carby cleaner.

Swapping #2 and #3 plug leads around and backfiring the motor a few times can dislodge the crap and get it running right.
If it works then you def need to clean the carby properly and also fit a filter between the fuel pump and carby.

Yea swapped over leads, replaces fuel pump and purged lines, runs a lot better but still chuggs after every third or fourth intersection. So I'll see how it goes and if it's doing it still after a week I'll take the carby jets out and have a look.
