I did this retrofit myself about 5 or 6 years ago and the car has worked perfectly until about a month ago when it started to lose power (hesitate a bit) when cold and then does it again when it was restarted when the engine is warm. When it happens (i.e. intermittent) it feels like it is hesitating, not misfiring, for a few seconds and then it picks up and runs fine, with no loss of power at all after the event. I initially thought vacuum, but that all checks out. It has new filters, plugs, plug leads and I have done all the simple checks although the new plug leads did improve things. It has the all in one dizzy. I have fitted a fuel pressure gauge and everything appears normal there, but when the event happens the fuel pressure does drop a bit, but I am not sure whether that is because the engine is kind of going back to idle or perhaps the FP reg is dumping fuel???? I must have read hundreds of posts about this sort of issue, but there does not appear to be a definitive fix, although I appreciate that there could be dozens or more different reasons. So I guess I am starting to think it could be the oxy sensor, or the airflow sensor or throttle position sensor. I would like to hear from anyone who has experienced this type of issue and been able to fix it. Cheers |
