I'm currently looking at getting a stubby shaft made to be able to run the easy to change passenger side CV shaft on the driver's side as well.
I was wondering if anyone has the 4xfourart front lower control arms also running a stubby shaft? (I have the extreme kit)
I know that a stubby shaft will fit with the Calmini arms so failing the above question could anyone send me any diagram/measurements of the front lower control arms that come with the Calmini kit so I can compare to my 4xfourart arms?
From what I've read I need a 135mm stubby shaft for the hagen widening mod or 125mm for the Calmini arms can anyone confirm?

I know there's plenty of stuff out there for the Calmini/ stubby shaft setup but there's nothing with 4xfourart.

I run the 4xfourart arms with a stubby shaft but also have the lux cv kit so it's not much help. I don't know how much wider the 4xfourart arms over calmini but they are significantly longer than standard. Install the passenger side and see if the standard axles will fit in there, if they do just make the stubby shaft the normal 125mm length.

Ahh ok are you running the standard 4xfourart arms or the extreme ones? (extreme ones don't have a sway bar mount)
I know they are wider seeing as the passenger side has the cv shaft spacer just trying to get my head around how the driver's side doesn't need a spacer with the 4xfourart nor the calmini kit. Is this because it has more plunge? or does it just sit out a bit more at rest and limit droop more on the driver's side.

Anyway, I already have them all installed, the standard cv shafts fit in fine, or do you mean do a test fit of the passenger cv shaft in the driver's side to see how much gap there is in between the base where it bolts on and the diff?

One more thing, eventually I'm planning to run the hilux cv kit. What is needed for it? Did you have to get a different stubby shaft made? Or did you just use your existing stubby shaft and bolt in the kit and the hilux shafts? It would be great if I could do this in stages i.e. do the stubby shaft conversion now and run passenger cv on both sides and then later just fit the lux cv kit. I suppose my main question would be did you have to do the hagen widening mod in addition to running 4xfourart arms? Or was it just enough to run the arms. I'd rather avoid the hagen mod if possible as I'm happy with my current tyre size and fitment and all that.

My arms don't have a sway bar mount so I assume they are the extreme ones. If they are already installed then yes it should be nothing to drop a passenger side cv into the drivers and measure what is required for the stubby shaft. No idea on the cv shaft spacer, I never got that or installed it with standard cv's. I already had the Toy IFS kit in it with the standard arms.

You need the kit obviously and you will need to modify both of your diff drops. The stubby shaft I used for the standard arms was reused with the lux cvs and 4xfourart arms. No more widening is required that I know about.

Sorry to bring up an old thread.

I've seen mentioned in another post that the stubby shaft in a GV doesn't work very well and requires a lot of work because the diff drop bracket is in the way. Did you run into any issues? I've only done a rough check using my thumb as a guide (flange on passenger side inner axle shaft protrudes about a thumb's width beyond the green body of the CV) and it looks like there is enough room.

I think the 4xfourart diff drops have enough clearance for the standard stubby shaft. I had to modify mine for clearance for the lux kit though.

Had to chop heaps out of the diff drop which had already cracked prior to doing any work. Requires a heap of strengthening after the chop. The metal they seem to use for the diff drop seems very poor cracks everywhere

Interesting. What diff drop do you have? It looks like some will clear and some won't (minor differences I guess?). My 4xfourart bracket is also gusseted and from what I've seen some others aren't.

I'll have to measure the protrusion of the flange with a caliper or some object of equal thickness later and see if it fits between the cv body and diff drop bracket.

Here is photo confirmation that it should fit with 4xfourart brackets. Handy that my measuring tape width was exactly the same as the flange protrusion. It fits with room to spare.

Did anyone get a stubby shaft on a GV with the suzuki CV joints? I compared both joints while I had them out and it appears that the stubby one is about 70mm shorter. Hence with the stubby shaft of 126mm I end up with an assembly 80mm longer than the stock one. I think 10mm extra would still fit if the shaft were the same length as it would compensate for the lift kit.
