Ok, So the Blue Beastie started lakkering in the bottom end, So a rebuild was on the cards. But I stumbled across a hard top G16A EFI SPI. It starts, it runs and it has a lot less K`s on it than Blu. My question is, would the inlet manifold and extractors fit on the EFI engine effectivly making it a carby engine again? I just dont want to buggerise around with wiring looms and fuel tanks and lines ect. Or will i have to do the whole lot? Any info or advice would be awesome. Thanks, Jeff |

Do the EFI. I know you don't want to hear it, but seriously, just do it. |

Is there a write up on the G16a EFI swap anywhere off the top of your head? Or do i suck it and see? Wiring isnt my strong point... |

The manifolds wont fit if its a 16v but i can't see why the carby wont mate to a single point manifold at worst you need an adapter plate or open up the holes where they mate. If its a 8v SPI than yes the carb one just bolts up You getting the whole donor vehicle? It would have the bits, where are you based? I didn't think australian vitaras ever came with SPI they where either 8v carb or 16v MPI, in which case it might already be a conversion in itself (eg early 90's australian swift sedan had SPI 16v) I know places like NZ have pretty loose import laws so you often see JDM, aussie, US & euro market configurations based on high volume grey imports |

We are just finishing off a 1.6 efi transplant and it is a lot of work. We had someone to make up a complete loom to go from ecu through to the engine and it's components. You do need a tank, new hose front and rear, which is cheap. A tranny adaptor plate, a starter motor that fits (we ground a bit off the side of one and made it fit). You need a O2 sensor, an in hose water temp, an air temp sensor , some creative coolant hose moding to get the coolant from the BACK end of the 1.6 to the radiator. Get some HOLDEN engine mounts which fit with a smidge of a grind..they will never break. The existing intake hose from stock airbox to the manifold fits with the addition of a 80 section of pipe ( we used a chrome pipe from the center support from an office chair). You need to retain SOME of the original harness to run a few things on the dash like oil pressure and temp. The biggest drama that has stopped us is trying to fit a Vitara tach onto the dash . It fits straight in but it is black... investigations are still under way about sorting that.. You could just leave the old tacho in place and run an aftermarket one to somewhere..I have proabably missed a few things but that's about it. You will need assistance from someone to do the wiring. Zook 1 has been off the road for almost 18 months and we have lots of cars so it is no big deal but if it is your daily drive you need to get a comprehensive list and get it all together before you start and have a sparky lined up who is willing to help.. Good luck.. ![]() PS....Notice there is NO strut tops on the guard... |

I think he has a vitara so it shouldn't need adaptor plate Your set up looks nice and clean

Thanks. it will look better when the old loom is removed and the new light wiring is in place. It's still a bit of a mess around the battery but that will get tidied up shortly. |

Yeah is going into a Vitara. And is the whole car, so i will have all the bits to do it, just not looking forward to the spaghetti... Im not sure how diffrent the loom would be in the 8V Efi. Guess its a jump in and keep in swimming. If anyone knows the extent of diffrences, it would be a huge help thanks. |

Is this your main vehicle? Is it more important that it drives or having extra tuning ability later down the track? |

Is my main driver, but i got the other car home today, and its looking better than my orignal car. Is a 89 Suzuki Sport. Has the g16a SPI EFI in it, and is a hard top. So i may just take off all the good bits off of the Softtop. Ill go get a RWC first, see how bad it could be first... |
