Hi everyone - a newbie with first post - I need to know if the FUEL RETURN port is located at the bottom of the carby on the horizontal pipe OR fits onto the vertical pipe above the bowl that I believed was the RETURN FUEL LINE port. This is an Aussie Suzie production so it also has a black canister connected to the carby. I put a new kit into the Mikuna Carby a few days ago and refitted it BUT when I turn the key, fuel comes out the front of it where the air cleaner is. Car will not start. I swapped the FUEL IN and FUEL RETURN lines and it started however it only runs for a few minutes and stops with black smoke coming out the exhaust and a strong petrol smell at the carby - any help would be appreciated as I have spent hours attempting to find the answer on Google but only get Mikuna Bike carby info.
Just got info that the bottom horizontal pipe is the FUEL IN line AND the vertical pipe above the bowl is the FUEL RETURN line. Back to the initial problem: When connected this way the car does not start and fuel pours out of the carby.

Check float level height and needle valve. Needle valve might be fine but the needle seat worn or full of gunk. Clean with cotton tip.

Flooding often feels like fuel starving when starting car, the overflow of fuel makes it suss.

Also clean out the main jet and slow jet again including passage ways
