Alright guys,

Just as I had enough money to start ordering some mods the timing chain has started to play up, just being really noisy and a really loud rattle etc.

Anyone know some good mechanics in Brisbane that are preferably on the cheaper side, let me know

Cheers!
Conor

Timing chain and 'cheaper side' don't really go hand in hand. It's a fairly involved job and unless you can swing the spanners yourself it's going to cost you a bit in labour.

I got quoted $2500 to have it all done? That's the whole timing chain kit and the blokes allowed for 11 hours of labor

Yep. Usually workshops quote 12 hours +. You can pick up all parts to do it for about 6-700. Youll need timing chain kit then gaskets and seals for rocker covers , harmonic balancer seal and a few other gaskets.

Also a good idea to do water pump while the job is being done

Starting to think it would be cheaper to just get a whole new engine and put it in hahaha

Most H-series engine will need a chain replacement somewhere after 200,000km anyway, so if you get a new engine make sure it's either lower KM or very well looked after... or both.
