Hi All.
Can anyone please tell me the difference in power steering boxes between Suzuki Jimny 1998-2000 G series and Jimny 2001 onwards M series?
The 2 part numbers are 48600-81A2 for 98-2000
48600-81A4 for 2001 onwards
Need on for a Sierra conversion and was told to use the Jimny G series one but the are becoming hard to fine

I currently had the Vitara conversion wedge with Vitara PS unit however I think the box is buggered and was looking for something new and thus the Jimny.

All help and advise much appreciated. I have google the shit out of this and can't find much about it.
Both part numbers use the same part number for the pitman arm and bolts to mount it.

You're missing one digit from the part numbers - your numbers are 5-4 and Suzuki uses a 5-5 sequence for most parts (the other option is 5-5-3, which is typical of trim parts where color has to be specified.

They should read

The 2 part numbers are 48600-81A20-000 for 98-2000
48600-81A40-000 for 2001 onwards

Lets play spot the difference!
First diagram is JB33 second is JB43. They are the difference in the part numbers you have.

Yer, saw them with the part numbers I had.
The shape is generally the difference. I guess Im trying to work out
if I can use the new one over the older on my Sierra conversion?

I cant see why not. The pitman arm on the newer one fits higher up the body but has more drop to get the same link geometry. The chassis bolt pattern looks similar and functionally they do the same thing.
Since you are fitting it to a car that never had one you will have to mod your car as such anyway. I say go for either of them and make it work.

But that's the thing. The early box bolts in without modification.

Personally, I'd be surprised if the mounting pattern was different - the only thing that would really matter.

Have a 2007 Jimny box with later model G16b Vitara pump (16mm? dia inlet), lines & brackets on Baleno Block
Box looks same as Fig.485A but part number is 48600-81A2, no extra zeros as casting necks down to pitman arm shaft.
From memory Pitman arm is about 10/15mm shorter than sierra one.
Used a standard coily drive side radiator support to clear box. (without spacers)
Box mounts to sierra without wedge but cannot comment on performance difference.

I rewelded the Pass Side Mtg Bracket forward to suit coily pass side radiator support.
(bracket is straight compared to stock leaf one.)
Vitara bracket bolted in standard position with clearance to pulleys & belts.
AC compressor on up top and steer pump bottom.

That part number is the one for 1998-2000. The new one ends in
81A4

Just did a search and couldn't find any Info.,does anyone know a part No. or the size/length of a belt to run from engine pulley to Jimny Power steer Pump on a Coily Sierra.TIA.

After recently groping a heap of suspension height out my sierra I'm now experiencing a bit of interference between the drag link and the tie rod at the pitman arm. Currently running a sierra pitman, does the late model Jimny pitman arm have the same spline, just 15mm shorter

Im running a non ps jimny pitman on a vitty power steer box if that helps you any.

Just rechecked and it's a Jimny pitman so already the 15mm shorter, so that's a bugger. The Vitara arm is flatter but the same length. Think my only option is to move the diff back slightly and take more out of the floor
