If only I had a dollar for every time I read that nothing fits a coily...

Maybe relatively about the same amount of sierra stuff fits LJ's or Jimnys but no-one pokes fun at them!
My coilies either have or have had Vit, WT and Jimny bits put into them and I never have a problem where I can't either get a coily part or make something fit (within reason of course).

Rant over... :thefinger:

Which of those parts is specifically for a coil sierra? All that lot gives you is a coiler with broken front CV's and an open front diff.

Steve.

they all fit as the fucking mounts are identical.
in all my time of coiler abuse I never busted a cv, that was with gti and swampers.
the sj80 is a good car. more gear fitted them than my jimny

You can't be looking very hard. There's miles more aftermarket support for a jimmy.

Maybe your coiler was different to the one I laid under for HOURS trying to work out how to make the front end work. I hate them. The suspension is very poorly designed even at it's stock travel level, whilst a jimny's suspension is just poorly suited to adding travel.

Whilst a number of leaf sierra parts can be added to a coil sierra to improve them, the fact is that the coil suspension is not an advantage and the unique axles and front end means there's no source of upgrade parts for the weak front end.

They weren't sold for long enough to generate an aftermarket following, and they weren't sold for long enough for wreckers to have a good source of spare parts.

Coil=dead end.

More than stock wheel travel without bending shocks mostly. Also a better relationship between front and rear roll stiffness. I'll add the owner already ran ( a very expensive) 60mm of lift with custom made koni shocks and (properly) corrected caster, 2" BL, bumpstop spacing and 31 'pedes with a rear air locker. The end result was a car that was great at speed but sucked for technical driving as it had a huge mismatch between front a rear roll stiffness and very limited front droop.

It also broke axle brackets, broke front shock towers and chopped out bushes like coilers do.

It's a rubbish suspension design. It doesn't make up for a nice grille, white faced instruments and a centre console.

Won't Jimny CVs fit? I actually don't know for sure but have heard a few people run Jimny CVs in Coilies which are very 'close' to coily length.

Anyhow, my coilies are awesome 'cause they have both been comfortable daily drivers and have both had 40,000km annually done on them at one stage whilist I have owned them.

linky to 1 of them... http://www.digitalstill.net/gallery2/gallery2embedded.php?g2_itemId=30882

And despite all the Coily problems, I reckon they are still a step in front of the same years Vitaras - easily broken alloy diffs, easily broken CVs, chassis crossmembers that break, strut towers that crack, engine blocks and heads that crack, lots more places to conceal rust etc.

No one pokes fun at LJs because they're fucking awesome, 4527564x better off road as standard and substantially easier to modify for off road use.

I like coilys. They are a bit different to the leafy in styling, and present their own set of challenges. Unlike G-banger who straight out hates them, I have some tolerance. I enjoy the idea of taking a poorly designed vehicle and making it work.

Yes, a leafy is less work. So what. At the end of the day its just another fuckin sierra.

I gave my coily hell with my 31 and 30mm lift and a 4.16 tc
Foot flat to the floor all the time
Never once did I blow a axle or cv driving
Only did a cv trying to snatch a hilux in reverse
Stupid stupid mistake
My car was crazy stable compared to all my mates lear sierra
Yes they bend arms
Yes they tear strut towers just weld a washer on the top
The rear needs a sway bar I recon
And I think some Johnny joints in the chassis end would help with the arm bending
Trying to find parts are the fun bit
The front hubs are vitara
The rear brakes don't match anything in the books
So u just have to take them in and keep looking till u find what one they are
I think unlocked Up to a 31 tire they are a better option then a leaf car
If ur moding past that I wouldn't wast my time

I'd love one because it'd be awesome to say "You just got showed up by a whipper snipper with wheels!"
