Would anyone be able to tell me if it's worth rebuilding a G16B out of a vitara with around 235000kms. Have heard that these motors crack the head and block around 250000kms???? |

No, not worth rebuilding when replacement motors with lower km are so cheap. What's wrong with yours? Normally the biggest issue are valve stem seals which can be done without breaking the motor open. That's as far as I would go with one personally. Cracking isn't a function of km- it's generally associated with heat. |

Nothing wrong with it at the moment. I was just curious about it having that many kms |

Leave it alone. If compression is good, and it isnt smokey, I would just ensure the cooling system is up to scratch. There's a lot of these motors with high km going well, they just need the maintenance. However, a timing belt, cam and 2 crank seals prior to install is probably a good idea. Agree with the cracking/heat comment. If you have some money to invest, I'd be more inclined to give the cooling system a birthday. Flush the cooling system out, then install all new set of hoses (all the heater hoses etc not just the radiator hoses), new OEM thermostat, new temp sender, new waterpump, new fan belt, new radiator, new viscous hub. Have you purchased it yet? |
