Hi guys,

Just finished the latest round of overhauls on the coily having just replace the rear main seal, transmission fluid and clutch.

I'm now looking to upgrade the transfer case in my coily to one from a leafy so I can maintain reliability/drivability with 235/75/15s tyres which i'll purchase after I have gearing sorted.

I've noticed LROR has rebuilt cases they sell with upgraded gears. Was looking to go down the path of 4.16:1and was wonder if I order the following parts will I have the required hardware to get the job done?

thats gonna cost you a ton to ship a full transfer case over. your gonna be well over the $1000 allowed by customs so will need to pay import duty and GST aswell.

that to swap the leafy case into a coily you also need the transfer case mounting brackets from a leafy, I would personally be upgrading them to stronger arms like this if you are putting transfer gears in the case to avoid smashing the case with the torque.

That's like US$1100+shipping&tax for just a transfer case though.

I don't know if leafy ones are the same but both BenT and ADD (both in the business section on here) sell aftermarket transfer arms/cradle type things which will work out cheaper and be supporting AZ crew.

Yes it did look like a fairly expensive pursuit but i thought it would perhaps be the easiest option. I'd estimated the cost of the next phase of upgrades being the transfer case/mount and tyres at about the 3K mark. Would happily spend less if possible. I can certainly attest to the quality of Tanashi's parts (apologies Tanashi, I'll get a pic of the tank skid plate now that its fitted up).

Perhaps the best course of action is to try and source a donor case domestically and then just import the gears and rebuilt it myself (with a strengthen transfer cradle/mount from Tanashi).

i figure your looking at in AUD$
$850 for the transfer case
$450 for the transfer case core charge
$350 for shipping
$350 for the EOS arm kit.
so $2000aud,
import duty is about 5% so that brings it to $2100
then its over $1000 so your looking at 10% gst
so thats $2310 then processing feesand other stuff they can sting you with you will be over $2500

or buy the gears, rebuild bearings and seals. for around $700aud. shipping will be around $200 aud
transfer arms $285 from me.
150-250 for a transfer case to fit them in.
so your up around $1500.

you could pay some one $500 to fit the gears and your still $500 ahead.

I guess i'll put out the feelers to see if i can source a case here . Thanks again!
