I have just acquired a 2009 jimny, statutory write off from the auctions. My auto box went and a used replacement is $2000 so I bought a whole written off jimny.
Mine is 2006, and doesn't have abs etc. Unfortunately the wreck came without keys, (yeah they were to bloody lazy to find them for me!!). I will take the Instrument panel out and put it in mine to see what K's it had on it, but looks like the back tyres are original and the spare has never been touched. So I'm estimating maybe only 60000K's.
Anyway I was looking longingly at the ABS thinking I'd like to have that.
If I were to change my body onto this chassis and swap over the loom ecu etc into my body would the 2009 ECU work with my immobilizer control module out of my car? (Are the ECU's and immobilizer control modules a matched set?)

Be warned - the body & chassis both have the chassis number/VIN stamped in and a mismatch can have legal repercussions.

Yes - the ECU and immobilizers are a matched set, and the keys have to be matched to both.

A car that is written off(stat writeoff) in Australia, The chassis cannot be used. You could cut brackets off it for conversions etc but thats it.

Converting to ABS is not only going to be a wiring headache, But mechanically as well. Technically the brake system should be retested in your model car. More $$ just like any other brake modification.

Grab the auto and whatever else you like thats different, and sell the rest.

Glad to hear

It would be easier, cheaper and safer to fix your car, part out the wrecked one, then sell your car, and buy a jimny with ABS etc
