Post subject:  U Bolts - 1983 Suzuki Sierra 1.0L NT Hard Top

Hi everyone,

Would anyone know if the existing U-Bolts on my Sierra are standard size?

The ones in the drivers side front is W78, L150 and they're M9 bolts.
The rest of them are all W65, L150 and also from M9 bolts.

The problem is, I recently bought a leaf spring lift kit but the new U Bolts are a bit bigger than mine as they're W82 from M10 material front drivers side and W72, from M10 material for the rest.

The new bolts won't fit my existing plates and they're too big for the diameter of my existing drive shaft.

Supplier claims my vehicle must be non standard but I'm certain nothing was modified on my car.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,

RC

The previous owner who put my lift kit in has bent ever end of the you bolts in, to fit the 1 L plate. Best thing to do is replace the plates with 1.3L one as they are more common

1.0 Sierras have smaller ubolts due to the smaller diameter axlehousings.
I wouldn't swap to 1.3 bolts as the axlehousing won't be properly retained.

This right here, ARB have 1ltr ubolts. The supplier who you bought the lift off should know that 1.0 and 1.3 are different.

So you reckon these are 1.3 U-bolts Image

U bolts on my old 1ltr hugged the housing nice and tight, also they didn't need to be squeezed to fit the plate..
I could be wrong as it's been years since I've looked, but to me it looks wrong.

any good spring shop will either be able to supply you the correct bolts or make some for you.
