Hi guys/gals im just trying to get an answer to a problem which isnt really a problem !

I am trying to find an answer to a condition which only occurs when you turn the ignition on and allow the vehicle to perform an esp self test.
after the self test the service esp system is displayed but there are no esp/abs warning lights illuminated and service esp system is continued to be displayed while driving . This does not affect the performance or operation of the esp. and also no faults are present when a scan is performed.
I realise most of you turn the ignition on and start the car which will not make you aware of this problem.

i know of a service bulletin of where the ESP light is displayed after start because the judging program of the esp microprocessor judges the battery voltage to be out of specification but this is not the case.

When i dig a little deeper of the operation of the esp which isnt covered in the factory workshop manual i have found the self test only checks the following
function check of microprocessor
operation check of valve relay
and function check of fail memory

it does not cover in the self check that it is checking for battery voltage but in another section it states that the microprocessor checks voltages are in specification AT ALL TIMES.

Mainly just looking for an answer to satisfy my own curiosity.

Also if possible can everyone with these vehicles supply the vin and battery voltage pre start and whether you have this occur or not so i can check if there is any correlation between certain vin numbers or battery voltage variations

I have replaced a couple of modules before for this concern, and also changed batteries which appears to fix some too. I just finished working on one today that was suffering the same fate (F9Q), but the customer wasn't complaining about it!

Mine did it, i was worried booked it in and they changed the batt and charged me diagnose haha bastards

Mine will do it when it hasn't been driven for a few days. My battery is undersized, fitted by the previous owner.
