hi. i'm wanting to lift my sierra 50mm, what is best : lift the body of lift suspension ? cheers |

It depends on what you're trying to achieve. Body lift is generally used to help fit bigger tyres without so much cutting. In a SWB Sierra it doesn't really get you any better ground clearance aside from under the sills. Lots of people used to fit a body lift to clear the taller G16 engines too. Spring lift will increase clearance under the chassis and better approach/departure angles. It can also get you more wheel travel. Lifted springs are generally longer, longer springs flex better and aftermarket "lifted" shocks have more travel than standard. That said, many aftermarket leafs are too stiff to flex well, you might have to remove some leafs. Without bumpstop spacing spring lift wont help you fit bigger tyres. |

To be fair, few, if any, bolt-in suspension lifts increase flex or functional wheel travel- that's often implied but not achievable due to the higher spring rates required to provide lift. |
