Hey Girls/ Guys,

Has anybody driven a new Jimny with ESC on the beach? I have been reading that the ESC causes lots of issues especially on the sand slowing vehicle progress (it also turns back on automatically over 30km). I want to know from people that have actual experiences, how does it go? If its terrible how do you override it (pull fuse etc)

I'm looking at making an abs cancel switch but trying to work out how to do it.

Tips would be appreciated!

Cheers

ESC kills power on my MQ Triton, it has a button on the dash to disable it when off-road, does the new Jimny have a button to disable it? Perhaps check the manual also.

You can disable it with a button however it automatically turns back on when you go over 30km/h in high range and in low range it's obviously completely disabled

In the gv it turns back on over 30/40 even in low
Not ideal in sand and gravel actually feels like its trying to kill you but on the rocks its quite helpful

That's a bugger, I can disable it when in 4high or 4low and it stays off when on the beach (so up to atleast 60km/H)

I'm surprised there hasn't been more responses on this one.
There's heaps of Jimnys getting around on the beaches up here. We passed 2 or 3 on Fraser and about 4 or 5 on our last trip to Double Island Point, I would have expected a bit more real world feedback for the OP.

I can imagine it would be a real pain if there is no option to disable ESC on the new Jimnys when driving on sand.

My Jimny was pre-ESC and I never had any dramas on the sand.
My JK has a few factory options for disabling ESC, but it also has a lot more electricary then the Jimny. The Jeep gives you partial disable and mostly disable, but it's only one wire that you have to cut and fit a switch to if you want to completely disable all electronic traction aids. ;)

Pull the abs fuse before heading

Yep shit me to tears when I first took it up the beach (2015 model).
Now I pull the ABS fuse when I air down. Lights up the dash with check engine, traction, 4h +4l lights.
After replacing the fuse all the lights are back to normal (after turning car off and on a few times or leaving off for half an hour, whichever you prefer). Doesn't affect anything else.
